Creative iMedia
What is it about?
Cambridge Nationals in Creative iMedia focuses on the creative side of ICT and digital media, including graphic design, web development, and interactive multimedia products.
This course is suited to students who want to go into the more creative side of ICT.
What sort of work is done?
Pre-production skills
On completion of this unit, learners will understand the purpose and uses of a range of pre-production techniques. They will be able to plan pre-production of a creative ICT and digital media product to a client brief, and will understand how to review pre-production documents.
Creating digital graphics
On completion of this unit, learners will understand the purpose and properties of digital graphics, and know where and how they are used. They will be able to plan the creation of digital graphics, create new digital graphics using a range of editing techniques and review a completed graphic against a specific brief.
Developing digital games
On completion of this unit, learners will be aware of different types of digital games creation software, hardware and peripherals. They will be able to plan a digital game, create and edit the digital game and test the digital game with a client or focus group, identifying any areas for improvement.
Creating interactive multimedia products
On completion of this unit, students will understand the purpose and properties of interactive multimedia products, be able to plan and create an interactive multimedia product to a client’s requirements and review it, identifying areas for improvement.
How is it examined?
Pre-production skills is assessed by a 1 hour 15 minutes written exam and the other three units are centre-assessed and externally moderated by an OCR Visiting Moderator.
What qualification will I get? What could it lead to?
- OCR Level 1/Level 2 Cambridge National Certificate in Creative iMedia
From the Cambridge National in Creative iMedia you could go on to study A Levels in Computer Science, Electronics, or ICT, or continue to study Apprenticeships or Diplomas in Engineering or Cambridge Technicals in IT (levels 2 and 3).

Games Developer, Web Design, Network Manager, Computer Programming, Teaching, IT Help and Support, IT Analysis.
