Exam Dates for Summer 2019

GCSE: Monday 13th May - Friday 14th June (See notice below)
GCE: Monday 13th May - Wednesday 26th June (See notice below)

IMPORTANT NOTICE FOR ALL STUDENTS TAKING EXAMS THIS SUMMER:

The Joint Council for Qualifications (JCQ) have decided that they need to put in place an Exam Contingency Day, should sustained national or local disruption arise during the summer 2019 exam period. This would then enable them to postpone and re-schedule any GCSE or GCE Exams. The chosen contingency date is Wednesday 26th June 2019
Students must therefore make themselves available up to and including the 26th June, should this situation arise.

RAG Week 2018

Sir John Leman High School continues its tradition of RAG (Raising and Giving) Week. This year, the Sixth Form Council have chosen three charities to support.

Beccles Men's Shed  was the chosen local charity, which supports both men and women when they are feeling lonely or perhaps isolated. They are currently searching for a permanent premises in Beccles and wood for their ongoing projects. Members of our Sixth Form visited Men's Shed and were truly inspired by the wonderful atmosphere and community feeling that was present. As part of their visit, they also made a short documentary to raise awareness, which is available here

Alzheimer's UK was chosen as our national chairty. A member of our school community was suffering from Alzheimer's and decided to support this wonderful charity during RAG Week. As part of this, the Sixth Form council are selling special gold-painted 'forget-me-not' pin badges to students, which will allow them entry to the special RAG Week events - such as 'Leman's Got Talent'.

Aluwani is Sir John Leman's international charity. Aluwani, over the last 10 years has offered drop-in day care centres for over 3500 orphaned or vulnerable children in the Limpopo region of South Africa. We supported Aluwani last year and the money raised was spent on fences to secure their premises and also water container systems - so that the children accessing their facilities have access to clean water.
